Finally back on SimHQ

After a few weeks of inactivity, I am finally back posting on SimHQ. At this moment I am not quite convinced of their new homepage.

On the old one any new AAR was usually mentionned within a day or two after posting, which resulted usually in a boost of views. My original posting rate and time was so scheduled that my AAR's always were announced just before the weekend (and remainded visible for two days). But lately I haven't seen any announcement for the new AAR's, which might explain why AAR's get so few views.

Anyhow I'll grant the SimHQ staff the benefit of doubt.

The latest AAR I posted is Letter From Malta (part 3). I don't know how many more letters I'll write, perhaps 2 or 3, before this series will be depleted. I have no idea what I'll post next. Perhaps some Falcon Allied Force AAR's or Wings over Europe AAR's. I have some material but haven't decided yet what to post.

The script for my next machinima movie takes also valuable time away from simming. If all goes well I should finish the second draft this week. Next week I'll spend on rewriting the dialogue and description, before handing the script to some close friends for a read.

Meanwhile they will have to do with my latest AAR.

FACTS

Two nights sleep and its FACTS! Tomorrow I will upload the movie that I made for Razorreel. I promised them exclusivity of the convention, but I want to upload the movie beforehand so that people returning from the convention can watch it a second time at home.

Yesterday I watched a Half-Life 2 Machinima movie: War of the Servers. Its a movie based on the War of the Worlds story by H.G. Wells, but of course with some reference to the Half-Life 2 universe, G-Mod and online playing.

Meanwhile I am busy writing a script for my next movie project, a yet untitled science fiction movie. I try to write 5 pages a day, which would mean that within a month or two the script should be ready. I am still contemplating whether I'll try my luck and submit it to agencies (but I am realistic enough to know that my chances are next to none) or whether I'll produce and direct it myself in The Movies. We'll see when the script is ready. If i produce it myself, I will in all likelihood start a specific blog for it.

With all the scriptwriting its hard to find time to fly in Il-2 and write AAR's. But I managed to post another one today: Letters from Malta (part 2). You can read the previous part here.

I hope you enjoy the story.

Letters from Malta

For the first time in, I guess two years, i did not post an AAR last week. The only time i did not post a weekly AAR was when simHQ went down for maintenance.

But I had a perfect excuses: RazorReel, the site for which my friend Daniel writes, has offered me the opportunity to display machinima movie at their booth at the FACTS conventions in Ghent, Belgium. The only condition was, that I finished the movie before last Saturday. So I spent the entire week finishing the movie (which I will only display on this site after the FACTS conventions).

Meanwhile I am working on a script for my next movie, but you will hear more on that one once I have finished some writing.

At SimHQ there is burst of activity on the AAR-forums, with plenty of reports. Unfortunetaly most of them are based on the Yankee Pirate missions in Wings over Vietnam. I posted my fair share of Wings over Europe AAR's but felt that they did not get much attention, drowning in the much better told Yankee Pirate AAR's. So I decided to return to my old love: Il-2 AAR's.

Today I posted the first of what will be a series of AAR's based on the Fortress Malta campaign: Letters from Malta.

I hope you enjoy reading the AAR, just like I enjoyed flying the missions.
