WOE:BC Update 8

Whats wrong with this picture?

While test-flying the campaign I suddenly spotted this aircraft flying over the battlefield. Its the YA-10B, the two-seat Night/Adverse Weather variant of the A-10 Thunderbolt II. Seeing this aircraft during the campaign, puzzled me. I had not placed in the campaign files. I inspected the flight of this mysterious intruder and soon discovered that this aircraft was assuming the role of FAC.

This baffled me even more because its impossible to assign FAC missions in the campaign. But then it dawned on my. The sim generates itself FAC missions and searches through the aircraft folder for suitable planes, as soon as an aircraft is found with the missiontype FAC in its PrimaryRoles or SecondaryRoles, the sim will use that aircraft. So now I have to delete all unused aircraft from my WOE:BC install or remove the FAC missiontype from those aircraft that I don't want to perform FAC misisons.

Yesterday I flew another mission and like I expected an F/A-18 showed up to perform the FAC role. Yet again i noticed something weird: it was a US Navy jet, which was weird since ther won't be any Navy involved in the campaign (there are however 3 squadrons of F-18's from the RCAF). It appears that not only the sim searches for a FAC-plane, it will also use the first available skin (located under textureset001).

Conclusion if you want to get rid of unwanted FAC-planes, remove all planes and keep only those you need for the campaign. And for those that you use in the campaign, remove all skins except those for the squadrons you created.

Happy Flying

PS below are some screenshots from my latest campaign test-flight: a CAS mission in a F-18.
