361st: Chapter 10

I have a fixed schedule every wednsday (at least untill the end of the year). In the morning I go to work like every day. But in the afternoon I am at home. I usually spend the first two hours in the gym. Working 8 years behind a desk in IT has not been good on my physical health.

Once I get home, I post the next chapter in my current serie of stories: 361st. It is based on an Il-2 Forgotten Battles campaign "361st FG Campaign" created by David Humphrey. I don't cover all the missions he created and from time to time I take an artistic liberty, but I find it easier to write stories based on user made campaign easier then working with Falcon 4 campaigns, I know how many missions it will take.

I also deliberately write at a slower pace. The reason I quit writing stories for Charging Dragon was that I wrote two stories a week, which required me to fly at least one mission every other night in order to have enough material. What made Falcon 4 hard to record stories was that I had to pause the game for each screen shot I wanted to take, so it could easily take an entire evening to assemble the necessary pictures.

In comparison Il-2 is much easier. I can record the entire mission and play it back in full detail. This allows me to first fly all the missions in a campaign. I then select the missions that I find story worthy. During the playback I can select those camera angles I like and take the appropriate screenshot.

I also choose to post only one story every week, which reduces the stress of writing. The great advantage is also that while I post these stories I am already flying other campaigns and writing other stories. A new set of stories is already to follow the 361st and I am in the process of finishing a third set of stories.

Anyhow you can find the lastest chapter here at simhq.

Happy Reading
